Called to order at 6:30pm with opening prayer then approval of November meeting minutes.
Old Business:
Sacramental preparation requirements now posted on website and will be in
school handbook next year.
Registration update- new first grader admitted last week. Expect one student to
withdraw soon.
Budget Committee- will report next month. This committee plans to meet tonight
following this school board meeting.
New Business:
Accreditation video-Chris Smith discussed and presented a 9 minute video
designed for parent information about the accreditation process. St. Johns is
currently in the self assessment phase of this accreditation process. Briefly,
this is a seven year cycle which allows catholic schools to be accredited and
thus operate as a school in the state of Ohio. Future education goals and
catholic identity goals are established as an outcome of the accreditation
process.
This video will be put on the website and shown at the next PTO membership meeting.
Dress code revision- black socks will be added to the approved list of socks in the dress code.
Reports:
Principles Report- report submitted. Discussion of Iowa testing
results delayed until January at the earliest. St. John’s has contacted the
testing company for further information regarding interpretation of results.
Development Report- working with the three parishes data regarding upcoming prospective K students. Typically 50% of registered parishioners who have school aged children utilize the school. Would like this to be higher.
PTO- report submitted
Coordinator of Religious Education Report- reported student council sold silly bands and donated $150.00 to Cincinnati Respect Life. Quarters for Kindness is ongoing. Students voluntarily forgo a snack after lunch and donate the money. $25.00 was donated to a needy school family this fall and the amount is again close to $25.00 and will be donated as well. A.C.R.E. materials are in (Association of Catholic Religious Education). Students will take this test in January with the results reported in February.
Pastors Report- Parish mission December 5, 6 and 7. Day and evening sessions. Babysitting will be available. Advent reconciliation service will be December 15 at 7pm.

Reviewed Principles report-
Additions to report:
Letter read from parent of a graduated student outlining the
quality transition into St John’s at the junior high level and how this helped
the transition into high school. St. John’s will not be eligible this year to
submit application as a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence
Coordinator of Religious Education report- handout given summarizing the Archdiocese of Cincinnati document entitled “Sacraments for Young People”, to access this document go to www.catholiccincinnati.org
PTO report- upcoming PTO sponsored events reviewed; Carnival, teacher conference dinner, Blue Jay Pride ice cream treats. Reported success of recent fingerprinting session during the PTO membership meeting
Pastors report- Parish mission on Dec 5, 6, and 7
Strategic plan. Lengthy discussion regarding what goals of the plan have been met, which goals should continue to be a priority, and what goals, established in 2008 are no longer applicable.
Top five priorities/current goals to be decided, submitted to David and Jim by 11/30 and they will develop list to be ready for next school board meeting.

Old Business:
Registration update: 464 children K-8. First day of school had an
unexpected loss of 2 students. Preschool is full with 14 four year olds and 12
three year olds.
Budget update: Newly developed profit and loss spreadsheet shared with group. A visual tool to compare last year’s expenses vs. this year’s vs. budget. Work in progress as this is newly developed and line items may need to be added/changed when it is used as a working document.
New Business:
Strategic Plan-David gave brief history. Idea suggested in fall 2008,
written down winter 2009. Some groups continue to meet and have implemented
projects and ideas. Other groups have not taken root and/or have lost
membership and interest. David will forward by email the entire strategic plan
for members to review and discuss at a later meeting.
Strategic Planning- Reports and Updates:
Facility/Staff & Administration (Jeff)- previous discussion re budget
profit and loss statement.
Development & Marketing (Roger)- Great turn out two weeks ago at mass/picnic dinner for new families.
Reports:
Principal’s Report: Mr. Harrmann presented his calendar report. He
added that the religious in service day was outstanding.
PTO: Linda reported $150.00 check for classroom expansion. There are a couple of new committees-Fingerprinting committee and We Care committee. Fingerprinting to help with parish process of getting parent volunteers finger printed and watch archdiocese child protection video. We Care will help rally the school community to help families as they go through a stressful or trying time.
Pastor Reports: Pastors have met and developed calendar for this school year’s school masses and prayer services.
Pastoral area mission will be November 5, 6 and 7, 2010.

Old Business:
Registration update. 463 students
registered in K-8. This 8 short of budgeted projection. More K students then
anticipated. Now enough students to commit to hiring a part time teacher. Will
teach the half day K program. 26 children in the preschool program.
New Business:
Meeting schedule discussed. Decided to
keep same meeting time as previous year. First Thursday of the month,
6:30-7:30pm in the Parent Resource Room.
School Board and Festival Involvement- Brief discussion regard feasibility of
School Board members staffing a school information booth at each parish
festival.
School Board involvement in Open House. Decided to work with PTO in staffing a
refreshment table at the upcoming open house.
Strategic Planning- Reports and Updates:
Academics & Technology (Jim)- Jim to talk
with David regarding future of this committee
Facility/Staff & Administration (Jeff)- Committee met in May, Mentor family
program up and running.
Development & Marketing (Roger)- Great number of R.S.V.P. for the new family
mass and picnic. Many thanks to Destiny’s Catering and St. John’s Athletic
Association for supporting this event.

Principal Report- Several new staff
members this year; Mr. Acito, 7th grade language arts, Mrs. Eckes,
instructional specialist, Miss Kilgo, music teacher, Miss Lukey, spanish
teacher, Mrs. Peter, 3rd grade, Mrs. Sander, kindergarten and Mrs.
Wuest, reading specialist.
PTO- Charlotte Henry reported on the PTO gift of 20 laptops for teacher use in
the classroom. Boo Hoo breakfast for kindergarten parents on the first day of
school.
