Immigration Experience PowerPoint Project - 8th
Overview
Our nation is a country of immigrants. Many of us are descendants of German, Irish, French, English, etc. ancestors. This project is designed to allow you to research life in a specific country and experience someone's journey from that country to America. You will share what you have learned in a PowerPoint presentation.
Process
1. Determine your country of origin. This may be but doesn't have to be your ancestral country.
2. Create your role/identity in the old country. who are you? What is the make-up of your family? What is your age? Your occupation?
3. Research the history of your country. What is it like in your homeland? What will prompt you to emigrate to America?
4. Plan your journey to America. How are you traveling? Where there any restrictions? Are you traveling alone or with your family? What are your hopes? Your fears? Your expectations? of life in America.
5. Describe your experience at Ellis Island. What happened once you arrived?
6. Share your new life in America. Where are you living? What work did you find? What have you experienced in America?
