Stock Market Assignment

Answer the following questions in Microsoft Word.  Make sure your name is on the document.  Save your Word document on the server in the correct "Miss Mendel" folder.

1. How do small, homegrown companies grow into large, profitable corporations?

2. What is the biggest hurdle when a company is growing?

3. Why would small business owners issue stock?

4. What is "going public?"

5. What is Pizza Hut's stock not under "Pizza Hut"on the NYSE?

6. What is CNBC's parent company?  CNN?  Cadillac?  Playstation 2?

7.  What is Nintendo's stock symbol?  General Electric?

8. Go the NYSE's website.  Click on "ABOUT NYSE" on the left side.  What are the NYSE's hours?

9. On the right side, click on the gray box that says "Market." On the right side, another gray box will appear that says "Quick Quote." In the space, enter in a stock symbol of your choice (use my chart on the my orange website or search for one). In Word, write the stock symbol you entered, the parent company, number of "shares outstanding," "previous day's close," the year's "high" and "low." Do this for three different stocks. 

10. Go to NASDAQ's website.  In the center grid, enter in three stock symbols.  In Word, write the stock symbol, the parent company, the last sale's dollar amount, and the share volume (number of shares).

11. List three things you learned about the stock market today.
