Fees
The registration fee for all CYO sports except Track, Football and Cheerleading is $65.00. The registration fee for Track is $20.00. The registration fee for football is $125. The registration fee for Cheerleading is $60. A one time per family per school year family fee of $15.00 is also due with the first registration of the school year (starting with Girl's Basketball). St. John CYO provides uniforms for all sports. Basketballs, volleyballs, baseballs, softballs, batting helmets, and catchers gear are also provided. Baseball and softball players are expected to have their own glove and bat. Volleyball players need to provide their own knee pads. Many schools also charge an entry fee upon admission to indoor events. These fees vary from school to school. At St. John the entry fee is $2 per adult. Students up through high school age are admitted free at St. John. ExpensesMany parents have wondered why our fees are $65 and why most schools charge an entry fee. A typical budget for one of our teams is:
The negative balance in budget is made up by the entry fee. Historically we have about 22 paying spectators per game (=$44) and each team has 5 home games ($220 total income per team). At St. John the family fee and all profit from concessions goes into the CYO general fund. This fund pays for improvements to the gym (divider curtain ~$10,000), potential improvements (new wall pads, bleachers), and some potential necessary expenses (football). Entry FeeThe door fee at St. John is $2.00 per adult with any sibling, high school age and below free. This fee is consistent with some other schools. There are some schools that charge $2.00 per adult, $1.00 per child, and $5.00 per family. We feel that our policy makes it less expensive for a mother of 4 to bring all of her siblings to games. At St. John, this parent would pay only $2.00. At other schools, she would need to pay $5.00. St. John adopted it's policy in an attempt to encourage more parents with large families to attend games. We also felt that it is very difficult for our volunteers who collect door money to know what constitutes a "family". When St. John's had the $5/family fee we had many grandparents request that we accept their money in support of our program. Copyright © 2005 St. John the Baptist CYO. All rights reserved. |
