If you have questions not covered here, please feel free to attend the next CYO meeting held the first Wednesday of each month in the school cafeteria.

  1. What is the name of the organization?
  2. The official name of the organization is St. John's Dry Ridge Catholic Youth Organization (St. John CYO).

  3. What sports does St. John CYO participate in:
    • Girl's Basketball (Fall Sport)
    • Boy's Basketball and Girl's Volleyball (Winter Sports)
    • Boy's Volleyball, Baseball, Girl's Softball, and Track (Spring Sports)

  4. What is the difference between St. John CYO and St. John Athletic Association?
  5. St. John CYO is directly affiliated with St. John The Baptist Parish. St. John / Bevis Athletic Association (SJBAA) is a non-demoninational organization that serves the Bevis area.

  6. Do I need to be a member of St. John Parish or attend the school to play sports for St. John CYO?
  7. To be eligible to play a sport sponsored by St. John CYO the player must be:

    • A student at St. John the Baptist School, OR
    • A member of St. John the Baptist Parish attending a religious education program.

  8. Should I consider playing my son or daughter up?
  9. St. John CYO discourages parents from playing their son or daughter up. In fact, it is against our team formation policy and will only be permitted in special curcumstances.

  10. Why do I need to "volunteer" to work in the concession stand? Doesn't my registration fee pay for everything?
  11. No. St. John CYO is a volunteer organization. By signing up your son or daughter for a sport, you are volunteering a small part of your time to help St. John CYO run that sport. Parents maybe asked to work at:

    • a 1 hour shift in the concession stand
    • collecting admission fee

    St. John CYO uses volunteers to keep registration costs to a minimum.

  12. What do I need to do if I would like to volunteer to be a coach of a team?
  13. If you would like to coach or be an assistant coach for a team administered by St. John CYO:

    • You must watch the Archdiocese of Cincinnati video on child abuse
    • You must submit yourself to a background check
    • You are strongly encourage to be an active member in St. John CYO by attending meetings held the first Wednesday of each month
